The Fotona LightWalker laser has transformed dentistry, offering treatments that are more efficient, effective and satisfying for both patients and practitioners. With more than 60 years of laser technology expertise, Fotona dental laser systems lead the industry in precision, performance and versatility.

A new standard in endodontic care

One of Fotona’s most groundbreaking advancements is SWEEPS (Shock Wave Enhanced Emission Photoacoustic Streaming) — an advanced endodontic solution designed to thoroughly clean, debride and decontaminate complex root canal systems, including lateral canals and dentinal tubules.

With its minimally invasive approach, Fotona SWEEPS:
• Enhances root canal cleaning and decontamination.
• Penetrates deep into lateral canals.
• Ensures thorough irrigation of even the most complex root structures.
• Delivers a safe, fast, and patient-friendly experience.

How Fotona SWEEPS Works

Fotona SWEEPS combines two key technologies:

  • Super Short Pulse (SSP) Technology
  • Shock Wave-Enhanced Photoacoustic Streaming (SWEEPS) Technology

Fotona advanced laser technologies, SSP and Fotona SWEEPS, utilize the Er:YAG wavelength to deliver superior root canal cleaning and irrigation. SSP creates non-thermal, photoacoustic waves for effective smear layer removal, while Fotona SWEEPS enhances irrigation and decontamination using synchronized ultra-short pulses to generate powerful shockwaves even in the narrowest of canals.

The patented R-SWEEPS mode allows customizable settings, optimizing laser-activated irrigation for maximum efficacy and pressure generation without risking apical extrusion. Together, these innovative technologies set a new standard for laser-assisted endodontic treatments.

The power of ASP

Fotona’s third-generation Adaptive Structured Pulse (ASP) technology is the only laser platform capable of generating the Fotona SWEEPS process. This innovative method precisely times a secondary laser pulse to accelerate bubble collapse, producing primary and secondary shockwaves that enhance cleaning efficiency.

“The Fotona LightWalker has provided cutting edge technology to enhance treatments that I perform daily,” said Dr. Mark O’Banion, DMD. “Fotona’s SWEEPS technology macroscopically and microscopically cleans the root canal system including isthmus, fins and dental tubules and addresses areas that standard irrigation cannot reach. I feel confident that I have performed the best endodontic care possible, both surgically and non-surgically, when utilizing this laser’s acoustic streaming technique.”
