The board of managers of CMP Industries, which includes Nobilium, Ticonium and Niranium, have approved a plan of merger with the company’s current president and CEO, Devon O. Howe. The merger took place recently in Albany, N.Y. CMP Industries is a supplier of non-precious alloys, materials and dental lab equipment for fabrication of partial dentures, complete dentures, crowns and bridges.
The company was rated No. 1 in service among its full-service competitors, according to CMP.
CMP distributes products out of four distribution centers in the United States and in more than 50 countries around the world.
CMP began in 1889 as a consolidated car heating company making heaters for railway cars.
The father of Franklin D. Roosevelt was an organizer and founding director of the company. A year later, the company merged with another firm owned by the inventor, George Westinghouse, who became president of the new company.
CMP still resides in the original building built in 1893, which retains the character of that period.
Ticonium alloy was the company’s first dental product in 1934. CMP evolved into a 100 percent dental materials company and, along the way, acquired other firms, such as Nobilium (Chicago), Niranium (Long Island, N.Y.), Vernon-Benshoff (Pittsburgh) and Demco (California). Some popular brands include: Nobilium, Ticonium, Niranium, NobilStar, Good Earth, Green Stripe, Yellow Stripe, FlexStar, Impak and Installoid.
“We have an excellent group of employees, customers and suppliers. Our expansion into new products and new markets over the past few years has fueled our growth and we are excited about our future,” said Devon O. Howe, president and CEO.
