NEW YORK, NY, USA: Dentists are always interested in newer, faster and better ways of working. That’s why the exhibit hall at the Greater New York Dental Meeting, held 29 November to 2 December, was bustling with activity.
At the booth of DENTSPLY Caulk, there was a lot of excitement about several new products — especially SureFil SDR flow, a new posterior bulk fill flowable base.
As Nikki Sparacino of DENTSPLY Caulk explained during a media briefing during the meeting, the key breakthrough with SureFil SDR flow is its new resin technology. SDR stands for “stress decreasing resin,” a technology that optimizes the way the polymer network is formed while curing, reducing the polymerization stress caused by polymers that become too taut, too quickly.
SureFil SDR flow, a low-stress composite, enables filling up to 4 mm, and it is chemically compatible with conventional methacrylate-based adhesives and composites, Sparacino said. It is self-leveling, making placement easy. Cure time is 20 seconds.
Also new from DENTSPLY Caulk is FluoroCore 2+ — a material that can be used for both post cementation and core buildup. According to Mike Smith of DENTSPLY Caulk, FluoroCore 2+ is designed to be convenient, fast and strong. The product offers a high depth of cure, and it is engineered for high compressive, tensile and flexural strengths.
DENTSPLY Caulk’s new Enhance flex NST finishing and polishing discs are being previewed here at the New York meeting. Both the finishing and polishing discs used in Enhance flex NST are coated with Caulk’s proprietary Nano Sphere Technology (NST), offering just the right amount of abrasion while reducing surface scratching.
