MELVILLE, N.Y., USA: Henry Schein Inc. joined the American Association of Dental Office Management (AADOM) to announce that Kelli Carter, practice manager for Delray Beach, Fla.-based Advanced Dentistry South Florida, has received AADOM’s sixth annual Green Leader Award.

Carter received the award at the 2018 AADOM Conference, held recently in San Antonio.

AADOM created the award as part of its Green Leader Initiative, which was made possible by a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation (HSCF). The initiative aims to empower practice managers to help lead their teams in becoming part of dentistry’s green future by teaching them about easy-to-implement strategies that reduce their practices’ environmental footprint while achieving greater financial success.

“It is an honor to receive the Green Leader Award, and I thank AADOM and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation for recognizing the importance of sustainability-minded dental practices and encouraging dental office managers to drive their own practices’ green initiatives,” Carter said. “At Advanced Dentistry South Florida, our commitment to the environment is deeply ingrained in every facet of our work, all while ensuring that we continue to offer high-quality care and an outstanding patient experience.”

Carter was selected for implementing a number of initiatives at Advanced Dentistry South Florida to reduce waste, increase recycling, and save power. Carter was also recognized for her commitment to using environmentally friendly building materials as she led the design process for her practice’s new location.

Built using sustainable materials such as low-volatile organic compound paint, LED-lighting, and formaldehyde-free furnishings and cabinets, Advanced Dentistry South Florida was recognized by the American Dental Association Dental Office Design Competition in 2017 for the best designed large practice in America.

“It is important to AADOM that we highlight the member who best exemplifies green leadership and eco-friendly practices in their dental office so they can inspire and educate other dental office managers across the country,” said Heather Colicchio, founder and president of the AADOM. “There is nothing better than peer-to-peer learning and I thank the Henry Schein Cares Foundation for giving us the platform to achieve this with the Green Leader Initiative.”

AADOM is the nation's largest educational and networking association dedicated to serving dental practice management professionals. Its mission is to provide its members with networking, resources, and education to help them achieve the highest level of professional development.

“As this year’s Green Leader Award recipient proves, AADOM members can make environmentally friendly changes in their own dental practices that positively impact practice efficiency and the patient experience,” said Jennifer Kim Field, executive director, Henry Schein Cares Foundation. “The Henry Schein Care Foundation is pleased to support AADOM, its members, and the Green Leader Initiative, and we will continue to look for new and innovative ways to build a greener dental community together.”
