CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of dental products and solutions, and Pearl, a leader in dental artificial intelligence (AI), have announced a partnership to deliver AI-assisted 2D radiographic support through DS Core, Dentsply Sirona’s cloud-based platform for workflow integration. The collaboration aims to strengthen dental professionals’ diagnostic capabilities and improve their communication with patients.

The integration enables the automatic exchange of 2D radiographic data between DS Core and Pearl’s Second Opinion chairside AI software. This allows dentists to access AI-driven insights that help identify anatomical structures and detect conditions such as early-stage dental caries or bone loss. These insights support the clinician’s expertise during diagnosis, treatment planning and case presentation.

In addition, the AI generates visualisations with automated annotations and measurements. These serve as powerful tools for patient education, helping patients better understand their oral health and supporting treatment acceptance.

“This collaboration with Dentsply Sirona brings our vision of accessible, trustworthy dental AI to an even broader global audience,” Ophir Tanz, CEO of Pearl, said in a press release. “By embedding Second Opinion directly into DS Core, we’re giving clinicians seamless access to AI insights that strengthen their diagnostic confidence, improve patient communication and ultimately elevate the standard of care across every practice,” he continued.

Max Milz, group vice president of connected technology solutions at Dentsply Sirona, added: “Our goal is to foster an open, collaborative ecosystem where innovation thrives. Through its open architecture, DS Core empowers partners and developers to build integrated solutions that streamline diagnosis, enhance patient outcomes and optimise clinical workflows. Following the launch of our own AI-powered 3D radiographic capabilities on DS Core, this integration marks another important step towards making advanced diagnostics more accessible and connected—underscoring our commitment to seamless workflows and better care through shared progress.”

DS Core API

The integration is powered by Dentsply Sirona’s newly released DS Core application programming interface (API). The interface provides rules and protocols that enable third-party providers, practice management systems, laboratories and dental support organisations to connect their software apps with DS Core for greater workflow efficiency.

Supported by continuously expanding documentation and features, the DS Core API allows developers to configure their systems for integration, ensuring that dental professionals can benefit from DS Core’s advanced functions alongside their existing solutions.

More information about the DS Core API can be found here.
