VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada: If you’re into new technology and great deals, there was plenty to smile about in the 2015 Pacific Dental Conference Exhibit Hall. Glistening new products and show specials were everywhere. The Exhibit Hall saw heavy traffic on both days it was open during the annual conference, this year held from March 5–7.

The host site, the Vancouver Convention Centre, juts out into Vancouver Harbour with sweeping waterfront views.

Among this year’s Exhibit Hall highlights: In the DENTSPLY Canada booth, you could try out the new Midwest E Electric Handpiece — and also receive a free show-special gift.

Isolite Systems was showing off its Isolation Mouthpieces, now available in six sizes.

The new, towering National Dental Inc. booth had the LightWalker ErYAG laser on display, one of its many high-tech offerings.

You could stop by the Shofu Dental Corp. booth to get a hands-on look at the EyeSpecial C-II, the latest configuration of the only smart digital camera designed exclusively for dentistry.

The Orascoptic booth was busy both days, with many dentists and hygienists trying out the latest loupes, lights and telescopes, including the EyeZoom, with adjustable magnification, and the RDH Elite, designed specifically for dental hygienists.

In the DiaDent booth, you could take advantage of a show-special two-for-the-price-of-one offer on the D-Lux cordless LED curing light. Also on display were the Dia-Pen and Dia-Gun root-canal obturating system.

NSK Dental had all sorts of handpieces on display, including two of the newest offerings, the Ti-Max Z900L (“dentistry’s most powerful air-driven handpiece”) and the miniature-head Ti-MaxZ900L.

And nobody could miss the sprawling Henry Schein booth making its debut at the PDC Exhibit Hall. The traffic-control theme included marked roadways, stop signs, street signs and directional signs that guided visitors to the company’s wide variety of services.

Biolase had a big presence at the conference, with its laser featured in six different educational sessions, including Friday’s closing session on the Live Dentistry Stage in the Exhibit Hall: “Lasers and Dental Implants,” presented by Glenn van As, DMD, and co-sponsored by Hiossen Implant Canada. You also could test out the laser in the Biolase booth. Expert laser clinician Dr. Brad Labrecque was in the booth both days to demonstrate the WaterLase iPlus 2.0 and answer questions.

The Exhibit Hall was open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on both days and included a complimentary lunch and afternoon refreshments — standing traditions that contribute to the hall’s consistently heavy traffic.
