KRIENS, Switzerland: For decades, dentistry has largely centred on intervention-based care—responding to disease rather than preventing it. However, a growing number of professionals are challenging that paradigm. The focus is steadily shifting from restoration to prevention—and from isolated practice to collaborative care. Curiosity.space is a new, peer-driven digital platform that aims to accelerate this transformation and connect oral health professionals who share this forward-thinking vision.

The right space at the right time

The launch of Curiosity.space was initiated by Swiss oral care innovator Curaden. The project builds on the success of The Gentle Guide to Oral Health and Human Happiness, a 2024 publication that celebrated the unsung heroes of preventive dentistry—those who view oral health as an integral part of systemic health. Curiosity.space takes that spirit a step further and invites oral care professionals worldwide to join a network of like-minded peers.

Fittingly unveiled on World Oral Health Day on 20 March, Curiosity.space offers a new kind of digital home for dentists, dental hygienists, periodontists, orthodontists, clinic managers, academics and other healthcare providers who believe that true health begins before the first signs of disease. The platform’s virtual launch event was held on 8 April and brought together trusted partners and community members for an evening of insights, connection and shared purpose.

“Curiosity.space is about giving a home to professionals who want to do things differently,” said Bruno Affentranger, head of global communications, marketing and branding at Curaden. “It’s for those who believe that real health starts before the first symptoms—and that progress comes through shared knowledge, not isolated expertise. That’s why we’re bringing together prevention-minded professionals across all areas of oral health and beyond.”

Growing, learning and connecting

Curiosity.space is built around three key pillars: growing, learning and connecting. It addresses the challenges faced by motivated prevention-focused professionals who, until now, have often worked in silos. For these individuals, continuing education opportunities can feel overly generic, while many online forums are dominated by commercial interests or competitive posturing. Curiosity.space aims to offer a thoughtful, community-driven alternative.

This evolution comes at a pivotal moment for the profession. A growing body of research is deepening our understanding of the oral–systemic connection—linking periodontal disease to conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. As such, the need for integrated, proactive models of care has never been more urgent.
